Ventana was contracted to design, supply, and install a structural glass wall as well as interior channel-set glass at the lobby of this 22-story Class A office tower in Chicago.

The 2,800 square feet structural glass wall features 5 foot deep by 7 foot tall glass fins that support the massive 5 foot wide by 25 foot tall face glass panes. At the head condition, the face glass returns with skylight glass that encloses the space horizontally. Low-iron glass was used for enhanced transparency and both the fin and face glass is laminated and uses SGP interlayers for added strength. Additionally, the glass is perforated at the spider-fitting connection points that hold the face glass to the fins. The glass was sourced internationally for this project. The fins were provided by Cristec in Spain and the face glass was imported from Beijing North Glass in China. The skylight glass and part of the large façade panels feature a gradient frit pattern to help mitigate the sunlight and provide shading.

Ventana also supplied and installed 1,000 square feet of floor-to-ceiling interior glass in the Alonti Café. The glass is channel-set at the head and sill condition and was imported from Cristec in Spain. This new glass wall allows patrons of the café a perfect view of the atrium, the Chicago River, and some of Chicago’s most breathtaking architectural sights.
