WUSM/BJC Mid-Campus Center
St. Louis, Missouri
The New Kellogg School of Management building is located on the Evanston lakefront campus. The new facility provides a home for the full time Kellogg MBA program and the Department of Economics (within the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences). The building includes classrooms, flexible learning environments, faculty and administrative offices, community gathering spaces, and food services. The selected site, northeast of the Kellogg Allen Center, home to the executive education programs, provides the building with spectacular views of the campus, lake, and pond. The building is LEED Platinum certified.
Ventana supplied and installed the 160,000-square-foot custom, unitized curtain wall for this 415,000-square-foot building. The system utilizes triple-insulated glass with high-performance, custom, internal spacer bars for superior building envelope thermal performance; the façade was able to achieve a U-value of 0.19. External, fritted glass fins were integrated into the curtain wall to limit solar heat gain. The framing system employs a double stack-joint approach, which offers enhanced acoustical properties to keep exterior sound from interior classroom spaces. The design also features 8 foot by 12 foot “jumbo,” triple insulated pieces of glass for maximum transparency of the stunning surrounding views of Lake Michigan.
