The W Element Hotel

Ventana has been hired to supply and install the exterior glass systems on the W Element Hotel located in Center City in Philadelphia. The 52-story hotel high-rise will stand with some of the tallest buildings in the Philadelphia skyline and will add an elegant, modernized look in the historic Center City neighborhood. The lower floors of the building will house the Element Hotel and the upper floors will house the more upscale W Hotel. Since two different hotels are located in the same building, each hotel will have its own separate entrance on the ground floor.

This project is a collaborative design assist project where Ventana supplied 20,000 square feet of curtain wall and 180,000 square feet of window wall. Ventana’s MWS-150 system used on the project was fabricated in China and the glass, which is four-sided structurally glazed into the units, was provided by SYP (Shanghai Yaohua Pilkington Glass Group). For enhanced performance, the one inch thick insulated glass units has a low-E coating on surface number two and the interspace is filled with argon gas. Additional components included in Ventana’s scope are automatic entrances, terrace doors, Nana walls, and a louvered screen wall.
